Pioneer in Renewable Energy
Mark’s passion for renewable energy began in 1992 in Belize, Central America. He founded a hydroelectric development company with the vision that a hydroelectric plant in the southern district could unite the country’s electric grid and provide power to underserved areas. Many said it couldn’t be done, but Mark’s determination prevailed. Working closely with the Government of Belize, he built a run-of-the-river hydroelectric plant. Today, that facility (Hydro Maya) is over 20 years old, and Belize is connected by one continuous grid.
Legal & International Business Expertise
In addition to his passion for renewable energy, Mark holds a Law degree and an MBA from San Luis Potosí, Mexico. As a founding member and partner of a highly successful law practice in Monterrey, Mexico, he has consulted on numerous renewable energy projects and international legal matters for over 20 years. He continues to consult on international legal and business matters. Mark’s work across multiple borders gives him a unique perspective on the intricacies of various countries. Being both bilingual and bicultural enables Mark to understand political and cultural nuances and to reach across divides with confidence.
